Green Jay Athletics Celebrate Record-Setting Academic Award Recipients
Student-athletes soar academically, more than doubling previous year's totals in a landmark year of scholastic success
Jackson, TN – Jackson State Community College (JSCC) Athletics sets a new department record for the 2024-2025 academic year with 35 student-athletes earning Tennessee Community College Athletic Association's (TCCAA) prestigious L. Quentin Lane Award for Academic Achievement, marking a 150% increase over the previous year's total of 14 honorees.
This milestone reflects the department's unwavering commitment to academic excellence and student success. The L. Quentin Lane Award recognizes TCCAA student-athletes who demonstrate exceptional performance in the classroom.
In addition to this achievement, 16 Green Jays were named to the NJCAA All-Academic Team, which honors student-athletes who maintain a GPA of 3.60 or higher. These national recognitions underscore the discipline and dedication exhibited by Jackson State's student-athletes across multiple sports.
"This is more than a win—it's a statement about who we are," said Dr. Kevin K. Lynum, Athletic Director at JSCC. "We are raising the standard, not just in competition, but in the classroom. I'm incredibly proud of our coaches, academic support team, and most importantly, our student-athletes."
The Green Jays continue to lead with distinction both on and off the field, reinforcing the program's core values of character, commitment, and excellence.
JSCC encourages local businesses, alumni, families, and fans to attend home events and support these new programs. Sponsorship opportunities and volunteer options are available to help grow Green Jay Athletics into a premiere destination for student-athletes to compete at the collegiate level.
