Green Jays Sweep Mississippi Delta at Home
Jackson, TN – The Jackson State Community College Green Jays Softball team delivered an impressive doubleheader sweep over Mississippi Delta on February 14, dominating both games in front of their home crowd.
In Game 1, the Green Jays showcased their offensive firepower with an 18-0 shutout victory. Freshman pitcher Brea Martin was dominant in the circle, throwing a complete game shutout, allowing just five hits while striking out multiple batters. The offense exploded with 19 hits, led by Ivy Knight (4 RBIs), Elizabeth Vales (3 RBIs), and Courtney Lynch (2 RBIs).
Game 2 saw Jackson State complete the sweep with a 12-4 win, fueled by a massive eight-run fourth inning. Madelyn Cornelius led the offense, going 3-for-4 with 2 RBIs, while Elizabeth Vales added three RBIs of her own. On the mound, Cornelius, Carmen Ward, and Eva Stafford combined to limit Mississippi Delta to just four runs on four hits.
With these victories, the Green Jays continue to build momentum as they approach conference play.
