Greenjays Dominate in Statement Victory Over Volunteer State
The Jackson State Greenjays delivered an electrifying performance on their home court, defeating Volunteer State 83-50. This victory not only highlighted the team's dominance but also solidified their reputation as a powerhouse this season.
The Greenjays came out strong, outscoring Volunteer State 29-15 in the first quarter. Their momentum carried through the second quarter, with a 24-14 advantage that had the crowd roaring inside The Nest. By halftime, the Greenjays had established a commanding lead and never looked back.
The team showcased a balanced attack, with key contributions from Marihya Hart, who tallied 17 points and knocked down three shots from beyond the arc, and Tamyra Patterson, who efficiently added 11 points on 5-for-7 shooting. Off the bench, Bailey Morris provided a spark with 14 points, going a perfect 4-for-4 from the free-throw line.
Defensively, the Greenjays were relentless, forcing turnovers and holding Volunteer State to just six points in the third quarter. The Greenjays' depth was evident, with every player who stepped on the court contributing to the win.
